Agricultural Development

Seva Mandir’s Agriculture Program provides new avenues of agricultural development from conventional subsistence farming towards, remunerative and viable diversified horticultural activities such as poly farming and crop rotation, vermicomposting, animal husbandry and vegetables cultivation.

The Need:

  • Poor tribal households primarily inhabit the area where Seva Mandir operates. These small and marginal farmers earn their livelihood by following subsistence agriculture, and don’t have any means for food security.
  • Providing new avenues of agricultural development from conventional subsistence farming towards, remunerative and viable diversified horticultural activities (cultivation of fruit and vegetables

Current situation

Currently Seva Mandir is working with 5000 farmers on training and teaching them about these different agricultural practices in an effort to make them standardized.

Impact of the program

Future challenges

  • Agriculture is highly dependent on the weather and uncontrollable factors and future risks include natural calamities like failure of monsoon, drought, attack of pests and diseases.
  • Other risks include fluctuating market, which would affect crop prices.
