Seva Mandir has 288 full time staff members and 1154 paraworkers,
15 Consultants, 37 Project based staff. In 288 full time workers,
58 are professionals who are engaged in the task of implementing
its various developmental works. The full time workers are
on the organisation's payrolls and draw a fixed salary. They
are stationed at various levels of the organisation at the
Unit, block or zone level. Paraworkers are the village people
working in their own villages who not only provide leadership
to the village group but also embody knowledge of various
sectors like forestry, health, women's issues and education.
Seva Mandir gives them a small stipend to compensate them
for their time and efforts.
Over the years not only the
paraworkers skills have been honed but they have also emerged
as strong leaders in their villages. Many of the paraworkers
have also got elected into the Panchayati Raj Institutions.
In contrast to leaders who derive their power from access
to sources of State patronage or economic clout, these people
derive their power from having a social base among the disadvantaged
groups in their communities. |
