Sadhna, the textile and handicraft program
promoted by Seva Mandir, is emerging as a strong success story
for the small and independent entrepreneurs. After more than 2
years of independent existence as a Mutual Trust, separate
from the patronage of Seva Mandir, the Sadhna team has proved
its mettle in gearing the program towards profits. The team
has also revamped its marketing strategy. Initially focus was
upon processing bulk export orders but considering the
significance of retail sales, Sadhna started a retail outlet
within Seva Mandir’s premises in 1999; and later opened
another store in 2005 to target the mainstream market segment
in the city area.
In the month of April ’07, the
old showroom of Sadhna was renovated observing the needs of
an expanded product range, an increased volume of finished
goods and the demand for optimal product display. Thus, the
showroom located within Seva Mandir premises was given a make-over
in terms of layout, spacing, positioning of products, interiors
and overall feel of the store. The adjacent space was included
to provide for a larger area.
The newly furnished store was
inaugurated on 23 April 2007 by Mr. Jagat Mehta, Trustee of
Seva Mandir. The Sadhna and Seva Mandir staff members and
other well wishers of Sadhna graced the occasion. The new
look was appreciated by one and all. This has extended Sadhna’s
popularity, which will ultimately contribute to boost the
business.
